New Construction and Neighborhood Revitalization well underway

Kenaitze Pointe
In mid-December, Cook Inlet Housing Authority celebrated the grand opening of Kenaitze Pointe, a 53-unit addition to our elder rental campus in Muldoon. A holiday open house gave CIHA friends and partners an opportunity to visit the new building and see first-hand the beauty and functionality it offers its residents.

Tyonek Terrace
With Kenaitze Pointe complete and fully rented, CIHA is focusing much energy on the construction of Tyonek Terrace. The exterior shell framing is near completion, interior rough framed walls are nearing completion on all four floors; the fire suppression system is being installed; sound proofing is underway; stairs and drywall lids are being installed. The 4th floor is being rough framed and the addition of the roof is close at hand. The project is nearing 50 percent completion and is on-target for completion in September.

Neighborhood Revitalization
CIHA was successful in its application request to the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation for Low Income Housing Tax Credits associated with this project. The receipt of these funds allows CIHA to move forward with development plans, including required processes under the Uniform Relocation Act. Subsequent to relocation processes, demolition, rehabilitation, and new construction activities will begin.

Phase I efforts consist of 24 recently acquired Mountain View sites which will ultimately contain four substantially rehabilitated four-plexes and 20 new single family homes. Eight of the single family homes will be more immediate home ownership units, while the remaining 12 will be affordable rentals for a period of 15 years, then converting to home ownership.

Stay tuned. We’re a busy bunch at CIHA, and we don't want you missing out on anything!
