Cook Inlet Housing beats its $100,000 Challenge

We Did It!
Thanks to more than 100 businesses, organizations and individuals, Cook Inlet Housing (CIHA) met – then exceeded - the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation (WFHF) Focus Community $100,000 Challenge grant initiative.
In September, Wells Fargo Bank, Alaska announced Anchorage was one of six cities to be selected as a 2005 WFHF Focus Community. CIHA was subsequently selected by the local Wells Fargo Community Development office as the non-profit entity to receive up to $100,000 from the WFHF – if CIHA could raise $100,000 in matching funds before November 13.
In just over six weeks, CIHA staff and a long list of supporters came together to meet the goal bringing in more than $250,000 including the housing foundation monies. CIHA is using the $100,000 WFHF grant money for down payment assistance to help 18 families purchase single family homes being built in Mountain View in conjunction with CIHA's neighborhood revitalization efforts.
The matching funds will be used to support an affordable housing design competition - with the winning design to be constructed in Mountain View in summer 2006 - as well as continued neighborhood revitalization efforts.
CIHA would like to thank the following donors who, through this effort and so many others, make affordable housing a reality for our clients:
