CIHA Launches New Website
An Expansion of Client Services Leads to an Updated Website
Those of you who have been receiving the CIHA newsletter for some time now may notice that this edition looks considerably different than previous issues. The newsletter has been updated to reflect our redesigned website.
This month CIHA launched a new and improved website which we hope will be more pleasing on the eye and, most importantly, easier for clients to use.
When we designed our original website about four years ago, we weren't certain that our clients were using the web to access information. We knew we needed a solid web presence for clients to an extent -- but we thought that funding and business partners would really be the site's primary users.
How much has changed in four years! The majority of our clients back then were elders. Today, CIHA serves nearly as many families as elders, and we know the Internet is the first place the younger generation goes when they're looking for information. Of course these young people have educated their parents and grandparents too.
We wanted to offer an updated site that would be more appealing to our clients and offer an opportunity to redesign our navigational system to compensate for the incredible growth CIHA has encountered over the past four years.
For many years CIHA offered one homeownership program, one home improvement program and rental housing for elder and disabled clients only. Homeownership and home improvement were funded entirely by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds that were available only to our Native clients.
While our elder rental program was always available to a diverse population, we've expanded into the family rental market offering one, two and three-bedroom apartments, rent-to-own single-family homes as well as a wide variety of homeownership and home improvement programs.
CIHA is dedicated to the promotion and celebration of cultural diversity, and we have created a variety of housing opportunities to reflect that. All this growth is great for CIHA and great for clients.
I hope you'll take the time to visit the new site at the same address: http://www.cookinlethousing.org. Visit the photo galleries of our properties, keep track of the progress of the 2006 Ideal Home and get the latest and greatest information about our organization. It's a perfect opportunity for a refresher course on our services!
Stay tuned for advancements in our application system as well. We hope to make online applications available within the foreseeable future. We'll keep you updated.
