Working together to make great things happen

As CIHA employees can attest, it takes a great deal of hard work to operate and maintain the organization's existing programs and facilities while actively working toward new and improved ways to serve our clients and the community.

As hard as CIHA staff works, there’s no way we could accomplish all the things we do without the support of so many others both inside and outside our community.

Within the past few months Alaska Housing Finance Corporation has awarded CIHA Low Income Housing Tax Credits and supplemental development grants which will provide the equivalent of approximately $10 million development equity to assist with the development cost of our new 40-unit elder facility, Tyonek Terrace, and our Neighborhood Revitalization efforts in Mt. View. Related Capital has recently purchased the Low Income Housing Tax Credits which will support the Tyonek Terrace project.

For many years SouthCentral Foundation has been providing lunches for the Native elder residents of CIHA’s elder campus in Muldoon. Recently CIHA, the Salvation Army and the State of Alaska Commission on Aging teamed up to insure that all the residents of CIHA’s Anchorage elder facilities have access to a free daily meal.

First National Bank Alaska has certainly been a great partner as well. Besides donating money to support CIHA’s Resident Services Program, they also gave a significant donation of time and money to CIHA’s first ever toy drive. Thanks to First National Bank Alaska along with Wells Fargo Bank, KNBA 90.3 FM, CIRI, Northwest Strategies and many generous individuals throughout the Anchorage community, CIHA was able to provide Christmas gifts for over 450 CIHA client children.

Federal Home Loan Bank also came through with more than $320,000 to assist with the construction of Tyonek Terrace and the Rasmuson Foundation provided $25,000 for the purchase of a bus for transportation at our Anchorage elder properties.

Thanks so much to our many partners, both listed and unlisted. With your help we plan to continue doing great things in this community.
