General Functions
This position is responsible for various accounting activities involving multiple properties as assigned within the Finance/Accounting Department including, but not limited to: general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable, cash receipts, bank reconciliations, payroll, and audit preparation for various companies.
Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)
- Prepare bank deposits and journal entries for cash receipts and post to accounts.
- Reconciles general ledger accounts for multiple properties.
- Create recurring journal entries and adjusting journal entries as needed.
- Review and post statements for tenant utility charges.
- Create lead sheets for balance sheet items on CIHA’s books (in GP software).
- Completes bank reconciliations for multiple properties.
- Creates bank transfers or check requests for cash management.
- Responsible for loan payments and journal entries.
- Maintains property management fee schedule.
- Respond to compliance audit requests.
- Update all balance sheet schedules.
- Assists in maintaining and updating financial procedures as needed.
- Performs data entry.
- Assists in month end and year end activities to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Assists in audit preparation for multiple companies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Experienced in all aspects of general bookkeeping.
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple assignments.
- Self starter with ability to solve problems with minimal direction/supervision.
- Ability to work in deadline-driven environments.
- Experience working with MS Office products with emphasis in Excel and Word.
- Experience working with automated accounting software packages.
- Experience working with MS Dynamics Great Plains preferred.
- Experience working with property management and/or TenMast software.
- Ability to type 40 words a minute and to operate 10-key by touch.
- Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with major course work in accounting, or closely related field or experience may be substituted for college on a year-for-year basis.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting.
